title: "Get Tag"
description: "Returns one tag by numeric id or publicId, in the same shape as an entry of List Tags."
---

`GET /api/tags/{id}`

## Access

Same visibility as [List Tags](/api/tags/list-tags): users limited to customers see tags of their customers and tags they created; a tag outside that answers `404`.

## Example (cURL)

```bash
BASE_URL="https://uptimeify.io"
TOKEN="<your-api-token>"
curl -X GET "$BASE_URL/api/tags/1" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" \
  -H "Accept: application/json"
```

## Response

`200 OK`

```json
{
  "id": 1,
  "publicId": "aaaaaaaa-aaaa-4aaa-8aaa-aaaaaaaaaaaa",
  "organizationId": 10,
  "customerId": null,
  "name": "Production",
  "color": "red",
  "createdBy": "u_abc123",
  "createdAt": "2026-06-01T08:00:00.000Z",
  "updatedAt": "2026-06-01T08:00:00.000Z",
  "customer": null,
  "owner": {
    "id": "u_abc123",
    "name": "Ada Admin",
    "email": "ada@example.com"
  },
  "customers": []
}
```

## Common errors

- `400 Bad Request` when the id is neither a number nor a UUID
- `401 Unauthorized` when you are not logged in
- `403 Forbidden` when your account has no organization
- `404 Not Found` (`tagNotFound`) when the tag does not exist or is not visible to you
